Baby Name Update

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have named their daughter Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck. Very pretty! (I must say I may be a bit biased - my middle name happens to be Elizabeth too!) I can't wait to see pics!

Jennifer in talks to do comedy

Jennifer Garner is in final negotiations to star opposite Ricky Gervais in the indie comedy This Side of the Truth, a film is set in a world where lying doesn't exist. The story centers on Everyman (Gervais), who figures out how to lie and uses his newfound ability to woo a beautiful woman way out of his league (Garner) and become a success at work. The script was co-penned by Gervais. Garner is currently starring in Cyrano de Bergerac opposite Kevin Kline and will next be seen in Fox Searchlight's Juno, which unspools December 5. In February, she is scheduled to begin filming Ghosts of Girlfriends Past with Matthew McConaughey.

Jennifer "garners" praise for Broadway debut

Jennifer Garner won raves reviews for her Broadway debut in Cyrano de Bergerac Thursday night. "I'm ready for a glass of wine!" she said while making her way to the opening night party. "I'm just happy that I stayed on my feet and said everything that I was supposed to say." The Big Ben of Broadway - New York Times critic Ben Brantley - called the production "surprisingly potent," star Kevin Kline "artfully low-key" and Garner "captivating" in her demanding role as the love interest Roxane. "Ms. Garner, I am pleased to report, makes Roxane a girl worth pining over," he wrote in his review published this morning. Despite the glowing review, Garner vowed she would not be reading the play's notices. "I'm not going to look at [them]," she said. "No. I can't stand it." Garner's husband Ben Affleck was on hand for support. "She did fine! It was terrific, and I had a lot of fun," he said. "I'm really impressed by her courage and her talent." Having now seen her in the role a few times, Affleck added that Garner "keeps impressing me, and I keep on loving it."

Jennifer Garner developing new talk show for moms

Jennifer Garner is making her way back into the world of television with a new View-style show for moms. "We're pitching it next week to a network," says former So You Think You Can Dance host Lauren Sanchez-Whitesell, Garner's partner on the project. "It's really [Jennifer's] show and I'm the host. We're putting together a show for moms, by moms... I call Jen the Barbara Walters of the show. She will come on periodically. We haven't quite settled exactly [how often], but she's the executive producer... We don't have a name yet. It's still Jen Garner Untitled Project, but I think next week we'll have more of an idea of where the show's going... We'll talk about how to get your kids to sleep, or how do you choose the right school, or how to keep your marriage together after having kids. Jen might talk about how you keep a marriage together when you're in the spotlight with a child. She's photographed picking up trash in her front yard, she's photographed doing everything."

Saved by the bell

Jennifer Garner was cut from the Golden Globes last week - but she wasn't complaining. The Catch and Release star seems to have cultivated a habit of slipping when it comes to all things important. "I was supposed to present the clip for Little Children, which is a beautiful movie and I was really excited to present the clip, except I slipped the last time I presented at the Oscars and almost fell on my tookus," Garner explained. "I never get nervous doing stuff like that, but that kind of shook me a little bit... Then I was a bridesmaid this summer at my friend's wedding and I slipped going down the aisle in a big way. Then it started to be a psychosomatic thing... I was sure that I was going to slip, I was backstage, sweating, going over what I was supposed to say and I had taped my shoes onto my feet... They [the producers] came running back and said, 'We've run out of time! We're running late, can we cut you? We're so sorry! Are you upset?' I was like, 'That's great! That's fine! Sorry Little Children, but I'm thrilled to not have to walk out there!'"

Jen on motherhood

Jennifer Garner talked to People mag about her one-year-old daughter Violet life with superstar husband Ben Affleck. "Having a baby fills your life in such a way that no matter what you're doing, there's something bigger," Garner says. "I've just been in heaven being with her the past year." The Catch and Release actress spoke about how difficult it was to lose the baby weight she'd gained during pregnancy, saying, "It took me a long, long time. I just wasn't that motivated. I wanted to play with her. I cut out croissants, bagels and muffins - all the good stuff. And went back to having salad once a day and protein." And about Affleck's new role as a dad? "He does a good job. I mean, okay, maybe I wrote out what he was supposed to make for her [to eat] today while I was gone. But that's just me being paranoid. He's great - he can do it... There's nothing more emotional than seeing your partner - the man you love - with your baby at any time, the first time, the second, yesterday, today. There's nothing more beautiful."
