Gwyneth's ailment

Gwyneth Paltrow was taken to New York's Mount Sinai Hospital Monday for "a little gastrointestinal situation," her pal chef Mario Batali confirmed. "It's now been straightened out," he said at the grand opening of The Palazzo Hotel in Las Vegas Thursday. "She's [doing] great." In three weeks, he said they're going to Majorca, Spain, and then Valencia, Spain, to shoot a PBS cooking show, set to air in October. The news of Paltrow's hospitalization broke on Monday. "She was slumped over in a wheelchair pushed by [husband] Chris Martin," an eyewitness told Us. "She looked not well." On Tuesday, her rep issued a statement, saying, "She is at home and OK."

Gwyneth loves gossip

Is Gwyneth Paltrow a real life Gossip Girl? "There's obviously an appetite for gossip," she told Britain's Daily Mail Weekend Magazine. "It's very addictive to see what people are doing and wearing and saying – and who is breaking up." The actress went on to describe the outrage of an unnamed friend who had been dating another celebrity and read an inaccurate item about the romance in a New York tabloid. "Then he turned the page of the same newspaper and said, 'My God, have you seen who's together?'" she told the magazine. "So we're all at it, aren't we?" But Paltrow, 35, is quick to quash rumors of any trouble in her marriage to Coldplay's Chris Martin. Although they are rarely photographed out and about, she explained, "We're not into doing stuff in public together." Away from the cameras though, she insisted, it's a different story. "I love the house," Paltrow said of the North London home the couple bought from fellow actress Kate Winslet and her husband, director Sam Mendes. Paltrow – mother to daughter Apple, 3, and son Moses, 1 – also admitted she's thinking of expanding her family. In four years, she dreams of having "two-in-a-row, really quick again," while Martin would like to adopt. So which will it be? The actress, who recently finished filming The Good Night with her brother Jake, told the Mail, "I'm open to anything."

Gwyneth's reality show venture

The woman once known for her alcohol-free, macrobiotic diet - and then admitted to a weakness for pinot noirs - has loosened up even further. Gwyneth Paltrow plans to eat her way through Spain. "I am 'supercontenta' to be here," the 35-year-old actress said Tuesday at a Madrid press conference to announce her upcoming gastronomic reality series for PBS, Spain...on the Road Again. Still, the longtime advocate for all things organic is not completely abandoning her old food restrictions. "I think my Spanish father will kill me when I refuse to eat jamon Jabugo," Paltrow admitted, referring to the specially cured ham from the black Iberian pig - as well as to the patriarch of a Spanish family she lived with when she was a high-school exchange student. "[But] I haven't eaten anything from a four-footed animal since I was about 15," she added. Paltrow will film the 13-week series with famed chef Mario Batali, New York Times food columnist Mark Bittman and Spanish TV actress Claudia Bassols. The show, to debut in late 2008, will document the group's adventures in search of the perfect meal, and it was Batali who initially spoon-fed the venture to Paltrow. "I was having dinner with Mario, and he was talking about this project," the actress said. "I told him, 'If you want me, I'm with you.' He thought I was joking, and I had to persuade him I was serious. So here I am in Madrid - my friends are all jealous."

Gwyneth's mom saddened by news of Owen Wilson

Blythe Danner - veteran actress and mother to Gwyneth Paltrow - was heartbroken by the news of Owen Wilson's attempted suicide last month. "It was heartbreaking to hear. This is such a tough business and here he is at the pinnacle so you wonder how this happened," Danner said. "We just send him the best and loving wishes for good health." Danner, speaking at a Save the Children benefit dinner on Thursday at NYC's Lincoln Center, feels that professional pressure is a real burden. "It's a very delicate thing when you are in that position and I think it's tough. I was very sad when I heard the news," she said. Paltrow once dated Luke Wilson and co-starred with the brothers in The Royal Tenenbaums, while Danner appeared with Owen in Meet the Parents and its sequel. "He just kind of breezed in and breezed out for Meet the Parents - he was only there for one day and for Fockers he was a fine fettle," said Danner. "[It's] very sad because I know his parents a little bit. I've met them and Luke and they've been so wonderful to us and anytime that happens, your heart goes out to them."

Gwyneth's big night

Gwyneth Paltrow's husband, Chris Martin, almost didn't get into Saturday's East Hampton screening of her movie The Good Night. One security guard, who apparently isn't a Coldplay fan, manhandled the British rocker when he tried to sneak by the waiting mob on the red carpet. Among those who had less trouble getting into the movie, directed by Gwyneth's brother Jake, were Paul McCartney and his children Stella, Mary and James, Billy Joel, Christie Brinkley, Edward Burns and Christy Turlington, Donna Karan, Kyle MacLachlan, Kate Capshaw and Blythe Danner. Paltrow told the New York Daily News she's be trekking around Spain with Mario Batali for his new PBS cooking show.

Unlikely BFFs: Gwyneth and Ross

The Tonight Show's Ross "the Intern" Mathews gushed about his friendship with A-lister Gwyneth Paltrow at a fashion event in LA over the weekend. "She has the raunchiest sense of humor," he said. "I think we click because I can be quite dirty and filthy. Like I have the mouth of a sailor, and she really appreciates that." The unlikely BFFs began a friendship after Mathews saw her at an Oscar party about five years ago. "I was covering the Vanity Fair party, and she was walking down the red carpet and I said, 'Will you be my best friend?' And she said 'Yes!' And I gave her my email address and the next morning had an email from her. And we have emailed now for...it's been going five years. And whenever she's in town, we get together and have dinner, lunch and I go visit her on set and I even went to London to hang out with her. It's crazy... Well, we've been through everything like from relationships and breakups and our fathers died around the same time, and so we've run the gamut of sort of like emotions. And so it went from being sort of like a funny 'Oh my god, Gwyneth Paltrow's my friend!' to like she's someone I can talk to about this and that I can't really talk to a lot of people about. And we've really grown to relate and love each other, and it's wonderful."

Former NYC waitress dishes on celeb tipping

In a new book called Rules for Saying Goodbye, a former waitress uses real-life details about celebrities and their tipping habits - or lack of. She dishes she once received a 15% tip from Gwyneth Paltrow, describing her as "not stingy, only stupid. I thought she probably couldn't calculate 15%," but says David Byrne tops the list of lousy tippers because he "never tipped in any of the three bars where I worked in New York." Though the book is fiction, the writer confirmed to her publisher that she previously worked as a West Village bartender and that all celebrity anecdotes in the book are true. "Rupert Everett, Parker Posey, Madonna, no tip. Tobey Maguire...Barbra Streisand, John Travolta's wife. Almost no tips at all." She also adds: "Paul McCartney was once too drunk to tip."

Celebrity playdates

Apple and Moses Martin certainly have some A-list playdates. "I have friends like Stella McCartney or Madonna, and very often our children get together to play," mom Gwyneth Paltrow tells Spanish Vogue. "Although usually we leave them in bed and stay to drink a glass of wine." Paltrow also says her kids love living in a musical household with their Coldplay-frontman dad Chris Martin. "The house is always full of music, whether it is Chris playing or not, and the children love it." Of aging, the Oscar-winning actress says, "When I look at my daughter's skin, it's the most beautiful and perfect in the world. You lose that with age, of course. But as you grow older you gain character, wisdom and beauty in your soul. A mature woman knows herself, and that is sexy."

Gwyneth ready to get back to work

Gwyneth Paltrow showed her support for people battling cancer by hosting a diamond jewelry auction in NYC last night to raise money for Hope Lodge, which provides free housing for adult cancer patients undergoing treatment. "My life has been affected by cancer in so many different ways," said the actress, who lost her father to the disease in 2002. "When my father had cancer, he found it so isolating. It's very difficult to empathize with if you haven't gone through it." The mom of two children, Apple and Moses, with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, says she's ready to step back into the acting world. "I haven't done a real part in a long time," she said. "I'm going back to work now... When I had kids, I just wanted to be with them."

Gwyneth supports L-Lo

Gwyneth Paltrow weighed in on Lindsay Lohan's recent troubles in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, telling the show, "My prediction is that Lindsay Lohan, she'll figure it out. It's really, really hard to be so young and so in the public eye and I think it's very confusing... It's hard to be that out there and, you know, when everybody's analyzing everything you do, and she's...very young." The Oscar-winner was complimentary to the young star, telling ET she thinks Lohan is very talented and will have a successful career. Paltrow admitted that her parents would never have allowed her such a public personal life when she was Lohan's age, saying, "My parents would have killed me if I didn't do it behind closed doors."
